According to the Wisconsin Department of Health & Family Services, in
2007 throughout Wisconsin, 724 people died by suicide; 199 died by
homicide. Of the deaths by suicide, 47 percent were due to firearms.
Men aged 45-65 comprised 220 of the 724 deaths. Suicide is the
second leading cause of death in youth.
